A great view over the SGBA: The Bellavista eye clinic is open!
On February 15th 2017, the St.GallenBodenseeArea (SGBA) could proudly present a new jewel in the ophthalmologic sector: On that day, the Bellavista eye clinic was officially opened in Vögelinsegg, in the beautiful and bucolic Appenzellerland region.
The architecturally stunning new building for state-of-the-art ophthalmology is situated right next to the Berit-Paracelsus complex, a highly specialized orthopedic clinic that was inaugurated just last year. Together, the two institutions form a new mini-cluster for medical technology and hospital care in the SGBA.
The founder and head ophthalmologist of Bellavista, Professor Gerald Stiegler is well-known in the SGBA: Already 40 years ago, Professor Stiegler worked for the ophthalmology division at the Cantonal Hospital of St.Gallen, followed by many years of medical service at the eye clinic Rosenberg in Heiden, SGBA, one of Europe’s most exclusive ophthalmologic institutions at the time.
The eye clinic Bellavista is now the seat of the experience and expertise aggregated throughout Professor Stiegler’s career. Bellavista hence is able to cover almost the entire array of ophthalmologic treatments and surgical options, from mere conjunctivitis to cataract and vitreous body surgery to laser-assisted eye and lid surgery.
Two of the region’s features were particularly beneficial for the clinic at its new location in the Vögelinsegg: For one, Bellavista is easily accessible by car and by plane or private jet. Especially its more exclusive clientele is very appreciative of the fact that the Altenrhein airport is a mere 25 minutes away (and Zurich International Airport just a bit over an hour).
And there’s the breathtaking scenery, offering stunning views of the Alps, lower Switzerland, Southern Germany and Austria. This feast for the eye isn’t just a nice amenity of the SGBA, it is an integral part of the healing and rehabilitation at Bellavista.
“Can you find a more beautiful place in the area to heal?” Professor Stiegler asked during the opening ceremony of the new clinic. Hardly, we would say.
