Leica Geosystems and ESPROS team up
Sargans SG – Precision instruments manufacturer Leica Geosystems, which is located in Heerbrugg in the canton of St.Gallen, has developed a 3D imaging scanner called BLK360. The device uses chips from photonics specialist ESPROS.
The BLK360 3D imaging scanner from Leica Geosystems is the smallest and lightest of its kind in the world — and it is powered by several epc901 chips from photonics specialist ESPROS.
According to a newsletter from ESPROS, which is located in Sargans in the canton of St.Gallen, the BLK360 captures the world around us with realistic panoramic scans. The epc901 chip is a central component of the scanner, enabling ultra high-speed image acquisitions. The chip is also highly compact and consumes very little power, making it very suitable to mobile applications such as the BLK360. The 3D scanner is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and can transmit data wirelessly.
The BLK360 is envisaged for use in architecture, engineering and construction. It delivers precise measurement data of the overall environment and has a measuring radius of 60 metres.
