Leica Geosystems presents smart antenna for construction machinery

Heerbrugg - Leica Geosystems is launching its new smart antenna, the Leica iCON gps 120, on the market. The GPS-controlled antenna allows construction processes and machinery to be optimally organized. It is integrated in the Leica MC 1 machine control solution.

Leica Geosystems, the manufacturer of high-precision equipment based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, has launched the Leica iCON gps 120 smart antenna on the market. As detailed in a press release, the antenna, which is integrated in the Leica MC 1 machine control solution, serves to optimally control construction processes and the movements of heavy machinery. The use of the complex system facilitates the coordination of accurate task completion and fleet efficiency between individual heavy construction machines.

Construction machines can already carry out operations precisely using a single satellite-controlled GNSS solution, while they can also be coordinated with other machines using the Leica CR 50 communication unit. Customers who equip their park with an additional smart antenna receive a comprehensive and high-precision GNSS solution that can be used to control machine processes on a construction site. The Leica iCON gps120, which has now been launched, is compatible with the existing hardware and software under the Leica iCON program, as the company explains in the press release.

“Leica Geosystems’ innovative and flexible solutions are robust enablers of digital construction workflows”, comments Tommi Kauppinen, Vice President of Heavy Construction, Machine Control Field Solutions at Leica Geosystems, before adding: “The iCON gps 120 Machine Smart Antenna expands the machine control technology possibilities on the construction site by offering scalable solutions to even more machines and applications”. ce/ww
